Similarities between Ghosts and Demons.
Let’s set this straight right away: demons and ghosts are two very different beings. Ghosts are paranormal and fall into parapsychological research. Demons, on the other hand, have religious origins. However, despite their differences in origins they may have similar symptoms when it comes to hauntings. It is very important to know what you are dealing with, as demons are a real threat to the living.
Both ghosts and demons, including poltergeist activity can:
- Make noises, like knocks and bangs.
- Generate phantom smell, although demonic smells tend to be more foul than from ghosts.
- Cause the feeling of fear and dread, although demons tend to cause more terror than ghost activity.
- Have the ability to use energy to move objects. However, demonic activity tends to be more violent and involve far greater feats of strength than that found even in poltergeist activity.
- Both can attach to an object, however, ghosts and more specifically, poltergeists would attach to an object because of its meaning to them. Demons would only use objects in order to get closer to humans.
Although oftentimes the signs of a haunting are misinterpreted, Ghost and Poltergeist hauntings can become very scary and even dangerous.
Difference between Ghosts and Demons.
Ghosts and Demons are very different in their origins. Even though ghosts can be very active and frightening, demons have truly evil motives to begin with. Their goal is to cause pain and destruction in human lives.
The Main Differences:
- Demons are considered theological or religious beings; ghosts are paranormal beings.
- Demons are evil spirits driven by ultimate evil from Satanic forces; while ghosts can be bad and show poor behavior, they aren’t driven by universal evil
- Demons can possess humans; ghosts cannot. They can attach to humans, but that is not possession, it’s an energetic attachment, which is entirely different.
- Demons can commit acts of great physical strength.
- Demons must be exorcised; you can’t exorcise or banish a ghost against its will.
- Demons destroy religious objects and react poorly to religious words, names, holy water, etc.; ghosts don’t.
- Demons tend to make frightening noises like growling; ghosts don’t growl.
This being said, although they share similares there are far more differences. But it’s important to remember the main difference, ghosts won’t react to religious attributes. Exorcism won’t work on ghosts or poltergeists. You can reach out to the ghost and try to set boundaries or simply ask them to leave. On the other hand demons who go berserk at sight of a cross or holy water and their early communication would start with knocks which would always come in three, thought in order to mock the holy trinity.
Stage One: Beginnings.
The first stage can also be referred to as “Senses Attack” because the early stages of poltergeist activity mostly revolve around human senses.
- Cold spots
- Weird smells
- Strange noises, like scratching or footsteps
- Strange animal activity, like, your pet would run away from an empty room or would start barking on the emptiness for no reason
- The feeling of being watched
At this early stage most of the sounds are light and often can be disregarded and thought to be caused by plumbing, rodents, or general “house sounds.” These sounds would mostly occur during the night.
Stage Two: Noises
This is when all the noises and smells become more noticeable and sometimes can be perceived with the movement of objects.
- Whispers, laughs or giggles
- Moving shadows
- Breezes in closed areas
- Strong static electricity
- Visible clouds (subtle apparitions)
- Moans and shrieking
These sounds would become harder to ignore and oftentimes could be heard during the day. The noises would resemble knocking on wood or glass. On rare occasions even bangs and scratches on doors can be heard.
Stage Three: Direct Contact.
At this stage the poltergeist makes its presence felt. The difference is that in the first two stages the activity could be disregarded and blamed on the mind playing tricks on itself. However, now, it would be hard to deny that there is something paranormal happening.
- Lights and electronics turning On/Off on their own
- Something grabs people by the shoulders
- Doors open & close and lock/unlock on their own
- Clear voices can be heard
- Dark figures or apparitions can be seen
- Established communication between humans
Now this can be referred to as a classic haunting.
Stage Four: Moving Objects.
This is when a poltergeist becomes more active. It can’t do actual harm just yet, but can definitely scare people and create paranoia among the living.
- Flying or moving objects
- Objects disappear and reappear elsewhere
- Shaking furniture
- Pushing or shoving people
- Windows and mirrors breaking with no explanation
- Levitation of objects
Objects can be moved inexplicably. Stone throwing, or lithobolia is common at this stage. Objects may disappear and reappear. When an object appears out of nowhere it is called an apport and when it disappears into nowhere it’s called disapport. These activities usually focus around certain objects such as ornaments, keys or jewelry. The objects could feel hot to the touch right after an event.
Stage Five: Climax.
The poltergeist activity will suddenly increase to a point it never reached before. This is when things can get dangerous. Although the poltergeist wouldn’t intend to hurt people, there is a great deal of energy that could end up inadvertently hurting someone.
- Heavy objects falling
- Biting, scratching, slapping or punching
- Animating objects
- Use of household electronics
- Hair pulled
- Other dangerous activity
This stage can last from days to weeks depending on the poltergeist’s personality. Once the haunting has reached this level it is recommended to seek professional help or consider relocating.
Stage Six: The Dissipating.
Normally after the haunting has reached its climax there is a sort of resolution to this. It could be a successful request of a poltergeist to stop the activity or sometimes the activity can die out on its own, but it might come back again. Moving out of the haunted house can actually help as poltergeists normally attach to objects or locations. If a person has relocated and the activity continues, then there is a chance that this person is being haunted by something demonic.
What exactly are spirit orbs? Are they ghosts? Angels, demons? “If I encounter a spirit orb, does this mean my house is haunted?” – The answer is “Yes” to all those questions. Orbs are a highly debatable topic among paranormal enthusiasts. However, the definition is rather simple:
Spirit Orbs – are balls (clusters) of energy and light that represent the energy pattern of a spiritual being like ghosts, angels, or other entities.
Spirit Orbs usually manifest as glowing spheres in any colors, each indicating different kinds of entities, who’s energy the orb represents. They can be angels that came down to support you. It can be a relative or a loved one who passed away that came down to visit you or even a lost soul that is trapped between realms seeking help. On more rare occasions an orb can represent evil entities like demons. But all depends on the color of the spirit orb and on the circumstances in which the orb was captured.
Spirit Orbs have commonly been captured in pictures and videos, but sometimes they can be witnessed by the naked eye.
There’s a lot of scepticism among the paranormal community on whether the orbs are just dust or flying bugs when captured by camera. Even if in some cases this may be true it’s still possible to make out the difference between simple dirt on the lens and actual Spirit Orbs.
There are many kinds of orbs that come in different densities and colors. It is important to know the difference between those as specific colors will indicate the spirits intentions.
Below is the list of different colored orbs and their meaning to help you identify them if you’ve ever encountered one.
Light Grey / White – this color represents earthbound spirits that might be seeking help to crossover. Encountering grey colored spirit orb would indicate that your place is haunted by ghosts or a poltergeist (aka earthbound spirits).
Black Orbs – malevolent, dark spirits. This colored orb would indicate that you are dealing with an evil and dangerous entity.
Bright White – indicates an angelic or divine energy. It also can represent a loved one who passed away. These are very common.
Dark Blue – can indicate that it is an angel or a high spiritual guide. Dark blue color is associated with Archangel Michael. This orb would appear to those who seek protection.
Gold – is associated with angels. When seeing a gold colored orb near you means angels surround you and are helping you.
Green – associated with prosperity and healing. Green colored orb is associated with Archangel Raphael which is all about healing powers.
Orange – often associated with friendly spirits and spirit guides. Orange colored orb belongs to Archangel Gabriel, which brings peace and harmony.
Pink Orb – represents love and comfort. Pink colored orbs represent Archangel Ariel.
Dark Pink – it is the color of the Flame of Shamul. It holds the power of divine love and adoration.
Red Orb’s meaning depends on their density and saturation of the color.
Dark or Muted Red Orb – it could indicate a very negative and a very dark spirit. Some would call a dark red colored orb a representation of a demon.
Bright Red – it is associated with passion and vitality. A bright red is the color of Archangel Uriel.
Violet Orb – seeing a violet colored orb can mean a spirit guide or be a loved one who came to visit.
Bright Yellow Orb – represents enlightenment, peacefulness and positivity. A bright yellow colored orb represents Archangel Jophiel.
Mustard Yellow or Dimmed Yello – it could serve as a warning that it’s a low vibration spirit.
Purple Orb – represents mercy and forgiveness. Also, is the color of Archangel Zadkiel.
To make things easier it’s good to remember these Main Three Categories:
Brown, Dark Yellow, Black, Dark Grey, Murky Red Orbs – are warnings that there is a spiritual energy in your environment that could be of dark, bad or evil entity. Those spirits must be cleansed.
Green, Blue, Bright Yellow, Orange – are always an indicator of a very good and healing energy and a sign that you’re being loved and supported by the spirit world.
Bright White – means you are surrounded by your angels and loved ones.
Electronic Voice Phenomena, or EVP – is a mysterious event in which human-like voices and sounds from an unknown source can be heard on a recorded data like audio tape, radio, or other sound recording devices. Usually mysterious voices captured on audio tape aren’t present during the recording. It’s only when the tape is played back the EVP’s can be heard.
Most paranormal investigators use a tape recorder to communicate with ghosts that are supposedly present, oftentimes asking them questions and only being able to hear a response when playing the recording back. Sometimes, some sound amplification and noise filters must be applied in order to hear the voices.
EVP’s are quite a mystery, there are only theories on how they works. Apparently, it has something to do with frequencies which the human ear doesn’t recognise.
Think of sounds as a spectrum, humans fall into the middle range of frequencies, but there are more of low-end and high-end frequencies that we can’t pick up. At the same time there are animals that can hear or even produce sounds that are out of our range like, bats, dolphins and some birds. This can explain how animals sometimes can react to paranormal events.
EMF (Electromagnetic Field) is a known place for spirits and ghosts to show their presence.
